Sheraton Resort Fiji, Denerau. Marriot Hotels 2018-2019

Major Renovation to the Hotel including guest rooms and public areas. 297 Keys (4 suites types) - Re, engaged by our client 'Fiji National Providence Fund' after the success of Momi Bay Resort, the hotel was to receive a full top to bottom renovation including Back of House. Working with Architects 'The Buchan Group' out of Queensland and Marriot Internationals vision for the 'Sheraton Refresh' to completely re-brand the Sheraton through its interior design. As project director, and travelling to Fiji once a Month, I oversaw delivery of the first stages of Concept and Schematic design, as well as the first stage of construction prior to the Asia Development summit in May of 2019.
Client / Operator: Taronga Zoo, Builder: Taylors, Budget: 65 Million, Company: Chada
62 Key (6 suite) Australian native wildlife exhibit and overnight accommodation facilities for Taronga Zoo. The proposed Taronga Wildlife Retreat will include five new accommodation pods, a guest lodge, restaurant and two function bars. The project is part of a $150 million centenary masterplan to redevelop the zoo. The proposed buildings are designed to recede into the landscape, putting priority on the Australian wildlife exhibit. Inspired by the site location, natural surrounds and connection to Sydney’s iconic harbour. The interiors are soft, warm, highly detailed and flexible; full of interesting design twists. The close connection to the animals and landscape encouraged the highly customised interior with features, materials and furniture pieces drawn from the local environment. Both guest rooms and public areas feature sculptures and artworks characterising elements of the Zoo and feature locally produced indigenous artist.
Taronga Zoo Wildlife Retreat ECO Resort, Australia 2015 -2019
Marriot at Momi Bay Fiji Resort 2012-2017

The resort is located on the west coast of Fiji. The 136 standard rooms and 114 freestanding ‘Bure’ Villas (250 keys) are designed to sit around an extensive man made lagoon. Re-commissioned by client FNPF the project was resuscitated in 2012 after a failed start in 2008. The tropical climate inspired a relaxed chic resort design. A series of semi open cabana structures creates direct seamless conversation of the interiors and architecture. Fijian tapa motifs provides inspiration for the textured yet contemporary interiors. The natural and warm materials, inspired by local crafts, create an iconic and unique offering to Fiji. The resort features mainland Fiji’s first overwater villas, and provides a distinctive offering to the region. Being a government project Value Management was key in providing the client with a cost effiecient but lustrous 5 star resort product. Completed in March 2017, I have traveled extensively for project / client meetings and overseen all design and construction reviews.
Star Casino - Restaurant 2015

Echo Entertainment Group (The Star) commissioned Chada in 2015 to provide full Interior Design Services for the total renovation of their 500 seat ‘Garden Buffet’ restaurant at their star City Casino in Sydney. The restaurant was completely redesigned and reopened in late 2015 after an intensive 8 month design & construction program. My role included directing the overall design and fit-out, through to site Supervision and Inspections. The project included a comprehensive re-design of all services including extensive kitchen upgrades which serviced other areas of the gaming floors outside of the restaurant.
Client: William Inglis / Architect: Timothy Court, Builder: FDC Budget: 100 Million, Company: Chada
Relocation of William Inglis from their established property in Randwick to Warrick Farms. The site includes a 140 key four star M Gallery Accor hotel, 700 seat Function / selling arena plus numerous horse stables and hospitality selling suites.
The aim was to earmark the hotel with the illustrious Inglis name, integrating its rich 100 year old history of horse auctioneering into the hotels design. Working closely with FDC in a design and construct program to erect the 8 story high building and mass of stables in just over one year. The intensive construction program included a pre-fab ‘pod’ bathroom to the guest rooms, and rigorous project communication to complete within the period agreed.
Inglis Hotel - Warrick Farms Sydney 2015-2017
Starwood, Westin Wuxi China 2013-2016
Client: Sung Hung Kai Properties / Operator: Starwood [Westin Haven] 5*, Company: Chada
25 level, 310 Key Hotel including all associated Public spaces, retail + restaurants, function spaces, health and executive clubs. Wuxi a short distance from Shanghai on China’s East coast, this project was fully designed and is currently still holding, pending further client advice.
Built upon Westin’s new ‘Haven’ offering the design drew inspiration from nature to create a serene oasis which one could step into and release the stresses of the city. Full Interior design and planning services, leading a senior team working to launch Westin ‘Havens’ new luxury brand.
Fraser Suites Jakarta Indonesia 2012-2017
Client: Ciputra / Operator: Frasers Hospitality / Builder: Ciputra World, Budget: 150 Million, Company: Chada
Located in bustling Jakarta, 50 Levels of Fraser Suite Studio’s, 1, 2 & 3 Bedroom long stay hotel apartments including all associated Public spaces, retail + restaurants, function spaces, health and executive clubs. The concept was inspired by traditional Javanese Ikat & Batik Motiffs - reinterpreted into a contemporary classic design language. This central theme runs through the interior finishes, furniture and artwork. Working with Local Architect Arkonin to undertake extensive structural building re-design, going from a shear wall construction to traditional column and beam due to earthquake concerns, the building was re-planned several times. Due for Complition in mid 2017, I have travelled extensively for mutiple project / client and site meetings in Indonesia, directing the design and construction site reviews.
Four Points by Sheraton Chang Chun China 2013- 2016

342 key hotel (23 suites), commercial building re-development and four levels of public areas. Generous reception, and Lobby Bar, Two Restaurants, an All day dining and specialty restaurant. 500 seat ballroom, executive club and health club level. Working closely with a Chinese college to satisfy client expectation of cost efficient ‘luxury’ working with the colours and tones which distinguish the Jilin province in Northern China.
The Brief was to create a Vibrant and luxurious feeling business hotel which would cater to a market mix of locals particularly families and couples as well as international guests. Project included master-planning, architectural review and interiors to completion.
Anantara Resort - Salalah Oman, 2009-2016

Site location: Albaleed located on the Arabian Sea in Salalah, Dhofar Coast, South Oman.
Located next to Al Baleed Archaeological Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Listed Site as well as the Botanical Garden and Museum of Frankincense, The luxury resort comprises 136 rooms including 40 Premier and Deluxe Rooms, 8 one bedroom Villas and 88 one, two and three bedroom Private Pool Villas. 3 Restaurants, expansive Spa, Gym, Library and kids Club. Contemporary design fused with middle eastern architectural influence reflects the sites rich heritage and is inspired by the region’s iconic coastal fortresses. Intricate, artistic details complement the contemporary simple planning, clean lines and minimal finishes. An Oasis in the desert the, with immaculate detailing, a once in a lifetime project to be involved in.
VIllasa (IHG) - Resort and Spa Chennai India

Working on both the interiors and architecture and inspired by ancient indian planning models, the resort was designed from the inside out. Located within close proximity to the UNESCO World Heritage Site in Mahabalipuram ,Contemporary planning was coupled with explorations into the Golden Ratio. Room sizes and even details were conceived with golden mean formulas. The site setback was over 200 metres from the shoreline which inspired and inward facing resort with a central landscaped courtyard area larger than two combined soccer fields. 2 Standard room and 4 villa types, an enormous spa space, function rooms, lobby bar and 2 restaurants were designed by a very small team focused on quality and detail.
