Inspired by the site location, natural surrounds and connection to Sydney’s iconic harbour. The interiors are soft, warm, highly detailed and flexible; full of interesting design twists. The close connection to the animals and landscape encouraged the highly customised interior with features, materials and furniture pieces drawn from the local environment. Both guest rooms and public areas feature sculptures and artworks characterising elements of the Zoo and feature locally produced indigenous artist.

Client: FNPF (Fiji),  Hotel Operator: Marriot, Builder: Fletchers NZ, Budget: 200 Million, Company: Chada

The resort is located on the west coast of Fiji. The 136 standard rooms and 114 freestanding ‘Bure’ Villas (250 keys) are designed to sit around an extensive man made lagoon. Re-commissioned by client FNPF the project was resuscitated in 2012 after a failed start in 2008. The tropical climate inspired a relaxed chic resort design. A series of semi open cabana structures creates direct seamless conversation of the interiors and architecture. Fijian tapa motifs provides inspiration for the textured yet contemporary interiors. The natural and warm materials, inspired by local crafts, create an iconic and unique offering to Fiji. The resort features mainland Fiji’s first overwater villas, and provides a distinctive offering to the region.  Being a government project Value Management was key in providing the client with a cost effiecient but lustrous 5 star resort product.
